I absolutely adore a Northbrook Park wedding and I was really honoured when Mel and Dan asked me to capture their beautiful country wedding! The grounds of the venue are simply stunning and the inside is all beautiful too, especially the ceremony room. Mel opened a letter from Dan during the morning, which luckily she read before her make up as it was a tad emotional! It was also a really sweet moment when Mel’s dad was waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs before heading to the ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony in the Country
The ceremony itself was really special, emotional and also funny! At Northbrook Park you can always be sure to hear a peacock nearby which always breaks the ice in the ceremony room and gets everyone giggling. Mel and Dan were beaming the whole time and it was lovely to see. The room at Northbrook Park is an absolute dream to photograph in, with lots of beautiful natural light pouring in, and I love the big windows and gold accents. It’s the definition of a beautiful country wedding!
Beautiful country wedding confetti
After walking back down the aisle, Mel and Dan had a few minutes alone while all the guests took a big handful of confetti to throw! They opted for super bright multi coloured confetti, which always looks brilliant – I’d highly recommend getting colourful confetti if you’re looking for a way to inject colour into your wedding day. I loved that Mel and Dan had a big gin bar with loads of different flavours for the drinks reception and also loved the fact they had mini golf! Mel’s bridesmaids also looked beautiful in their dusky pink and glitter dresses, and I thought Dan and all the boys looked really smart in their blue suits and I loved the ties.
We took a short stroll round Northbrook Park, it’s so picturesque and got so many lovely locations to choose from. The main house is so gorgeous, but there’s also beautiful trees, fields, a small lake with willow trees and lots of other rustic locations to take photos in.
Naked wedding cakes & bridesmaid speeches
After that, everyone else was seated and waiting to welcome Mel and Dan back into their room for their meal. I love that they also had Krispy Kreme donuts as well as a naked wedding cake! After an amazing dinner, it was time for some speeches, including some beautiful words from Mel’s bridesmaids. I really love it when either the Bride or the Bridesmaids do a speech! There was certainly not a dry eye in the house, it was really lovely to capture.
Everyone was ready to party and after a really sweet first dance it’s safe to say the dance floor was packed and I had loads of fun dancing along with everyone – it’s seriously one of my favourite parts of the wedding to photograph! Then it was time for everyone to have a slice of pizza from Knead Pizza before powering on again.
