Yolanna and Antoine’s relaxed and pretty Wedding at the Drapers Arms

11th June 2015

Yolanna and Antoine’s wedding was so much fun, I met them both a few months ago where we chatted all about their relaxed, pretty and fun wedding in London. As you can probably tell from the names, Yolanna and Antoine are French although they live here in London with their son Ben, so it was a very special occasion to have all their family and friends come over from France for the wedding! I also had lots of fun chatting with a few of the guests about my French surname. A lot of people ask when they meet me if I’m French, to which I reply, I’m not too sure! I did research on my family history and unfortunately couldn’t go back far enough to find out the root of my surname and where it came from – although the guests I was chatting with said that ‘DeBourde’ was an aristocrat name and that my ancestors would have owned a lot of land and possibly even a big estate such as a castle (to which I replied “Where’s my castle?!?!”) and they recommended me some places to eat next time I’m in Paris, thanks guys!

This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Drapers Arms and it was wonderfully decorated, with lovely food and right in the heart of London. A lot of the guests hadn’t been to London before so this was a bit of a destination wedding for them! They had their ceremony at my favourite town hall in London, the beautiful and timeless Islington Town Hall. I arrived bright and early to photograph Yolanna getting ready, just round the corner from the Town Hall…

As many of Yolanna and Antoine’s guests were French, and quite a lot of them hadn’t been to London before, it seemed only fitting that we had a brilliant bus journey around the city!

We then arrived at the pub for a late lunch, drinks and photos… I have fallen in love with the Drapers Arms. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good pub! The interior was lovely, quite rustic and Yolanna had brightened up the mantelpieces with some gorgeous flowers, and the tables were lined up with different types of wooden chairs, with small jars filled with a variety of wild flowers and candles. Really pretty and simple!

Everybody then headed on to the third and final venue, The Proud Archivist for more drinks and dancing!
